Malbec is a Los Angeles-based rock–hip-hop–pop band, formed in 2003. Malbec released two EPs, working with producers Richard Gibbs and Rick Parker and drummer and songwriter Tony Fagenson. Malbec released a self-produced full-length ''Dawn of Our Age'' in March 2008. From December 2008 to April 2009, Malbec released a series of five EPs in five months, called the ''Answering Machine'' EPs. They wrote, recorded and released a new EP every month. In 2010, they were featured on The Knux EP entitled "F@&k You" on the song "Fruits," which they co-wrote with The Knux. They parted ways with their original drummer, Mark Pontius, in December 2009, but the rest of the band continued working on a new full length album in 2010.
